5-gallon barrel water filling line
The 5-gallon (18.9 L) bottle is the workhorse of water depots worldwide. A filling line for this format runs: de-capping, external brushing, internal washing with hot water or chemical rinse, filling, capping, light inspection and bagging. Each stage protects the two things a depot sells: hygienic water and a clean barrel.
Line composition
Semiautomatic lines handle 60-120 barrels per hour with manual loading; automatic lines push 300-600 barrels per hour with an automatic de-capper and stacker. The washing stage is where quality is won — an internal brush plus hot-water rinse removes biofilm that chemical rinse alone can miss.
Suitable containers
Standard 18.9 L polycarbonate barrels with screw or snap caps. Barrel inventory is a real cost: a depot needs 3-5 barrels in circulation per daily customer, so barrel sourcing and inspection policy belong in the project plan, not as an afterthought.
Selection considerations
Size the line from delivery-route volume. Check that the washer handles your barrel return condition (heavy-scale barrels need longer wash cycles). If you plan to add 3-gallon format later, confirm the line's changeover parts at quotation stage.
